Our price list is on this website. Where a matter can be done for a fixed fee, we quote one. Where it cannot, we give you the hourly rate and the likely range.
Training and experience
Principal and Director Waqas Sabah qualified as a solicitor in 2018 after a training contract that began in the city, then worked at regional firms and as a civil litigation consultant. He founded Herschel Law in 2022 and has worked in law since 2013.

How we charge
No two matters are the same. At your first consultation, we tell you which basis applies to your case and what it is likely to cost, then confirm it in writing before work begins. The full list is on our pricing page.
Indicative fixed fees for standard cases
- Spouse visa: from £900 plus VAT
- Uncontested divorce: from £700 plus VAT
- Single will: from £250 plus VAT
- Police station attendance: from £500 plus VAT
Fixed fee
We use a fixed fee where the work has a defined scope, such as a visa application, a will, an uncontested divorce or a police station attendance. It does not change unless the scope does.
Hourly rate
We use our hourly rates where a matter cannot be scoped in advance, for example financial settlements, contested children matters and most litigation. They are £350 for solicitors and legal executives with over eight years’ experience, £300 with over four years’ experience and £200 for trainees, paralegals and other fee earners, all plus VAT. We give an estimated range at the outset and regular updates on where costs stand.

On longer matters we quote each stage separately, so you decide whether to continue at each point.
These are starting points and not quotations. All amounts exclude VAT and cover our professional charges only. Court fees, Home Office fees, search fees, counsel’s fees and other disbursements are payable on top and are itemised in your written quote.

How much will my case cost?
For most immigration, family, criminal and wills matters we charge a fixed fee, and those fees are on our pricing page. A spouse visa is £900 plus VAT and a single will is £250 plus VAT, for example. Disbursements such as court fees and Home Office fees are payable on top.
Where a matter cannot sensibly be fixed, such as financial relief on divorce, we charge hourly rates of £200 to £350 plus VAT, depending on the fee earner, and give you an estimated range at the outset. Either way you receive a written quote before any chargeable work starts.
How much is the first consultation?
An initial consultation is from £120 plus VAT for 30 minutes. It gives you time to explain the situation, and we then tell you if we can help, what the work would cost and what happens next. Please call 01753 299611 to book before you visit the office.
Are you regulated, and how can I check?
Herschel Law Ltd is authorised and regulated by the Solicitors Regulation Authority, firm number 8001050, and has been a recognised body since 12 August 2022. You can verify this on the SRA’s public register.
We are a private limited company registered in England and Wales, company number 12289537, with our registered office at 60 High Street, Slough SL1 1EL.
What should I bring to a first appointment?
Photographic identification, proof of address, any correspondence about the matter and any deadline dates you have been given. If you have a court, tribunal or Home Office reference number, bring that too.
Do you take legal aid work?
Herschel Law does not currently provide legal aid work. Not sure if you qualify for legal aid, contact Civil Legal Advice who can tell you. At a police station you can ask for the duty solicitor, whose advice is free whatever your means.
What languages does your team speak?
Our team speaks English, Urdu and Punjabi. Tell us when you book if you would like to use one of them, and we will arrange for you to speak to someone in that language.
How quickly will someone get back to me?
We aim to reply to every new enquiry within one working day. If your matter is urgent, such as a police station attendance or a court date, call 01753 299611 instead.
